They differ completely in module styles, typography and the whole look of the site. Its like three different templates combined in one! We have a modern and neutral business look, a vintage style with some more retro elements and finally a shiny premium look. These different styles make the template really versatile to fit all kinds of websites. Additionally you can set your template to a plain style of each variation, to turn off the wrapper edges of the site. We built in a second menu position "menuright". Now you are free to place the menu at the left side, the right side or even menus at both sides of the menubar. These positions give you the freedom to publish the logo anywhere in the header, even in the middle between both menus. Further we put a second row of bottom modules into the footer of the site.
At the end of our "YOOtheme templates - An inside look!" presentation, we did at JandBeyond, we showed the audience a little teaser of our secret project we were working on the last 9 months: Our new YOOicons! And today we are very proud to open the gates to the new website presenting our icons . You may already use one of our templates to build good looking websites. But what about your content? Wouldn't it be great to have some real eye-catching icons to beautify the content of your website? Icons are an essential content element for web design. Today almost every major website uses icons to highlight important parts in their content. This is why we came up with the idea of creating handcrafted icon packages for web and print projects. With YOOicons we will offer commercial icon packages as well as free icon sets. We start with our first commercial icon package: the Basic Package. The Basic Package The Basic Icon Package is packed with 125 high quality icons. It includes useful icons for your company website, many social icons and all the standard icons you need for web applications. All icons are available as 32-bit transparency PNG file format in 8 different standard sizes ranging from 16x16 to 512x512 pixels. This makes a total of 1000 extremely detailed icons which are handmade optimized for each specific size. Adobe Illustrator compatible vector PDF files of all icons are also available so that the icons can be rescaled to any size without a single loss to the details. The Design Process Let's take an inside look into the process of designing of the Basic Package. We started off with a blank sheet of paper and produced our first ideas from scratch. While we used our imagination to come up with new and inspired designs, we went along the line of trial and error, to find out what would work and what didn't. In doing this, we got a better understanding of how our icons should look and feel: crispy, clear, lively and fitting a wide variety of needs. Now for the second step. We began to translate the selected scribbles into vectors. Lovingly taking care of every detail, we began with the largest size of 512 x 512 pixels. To keep a consistent look, we arranged a vivid and harmonic color palette and we where enthusiastic to see our icons taking form. Next we prepared the smaller sizes, taking perfectly care of a beautiful result. Most important in this step was designing with the pixel grid. We needed a good feeling for which detail to highlight or ditch in every step of downsizing. Of course there were many modifications and sometimes it was a hard fight until we were truly satisfied. With the slices we'd already build in Adobe Illustrator it was easy to export the icons as PNG. To play safe we singly checked each one of them in Adobe Photoshop and cleaned up scruffy edges if necessary. The final step was to export the source file as vector PDF - Et Voilà, here they are! Visit our icons website and enjoy browsing through all icons!

We created a lot of very unique template variations and for sure it will give your site a brand new modern look. The main content wrappers are displayed as 3D blocks and new module variations offer some nice 3D effects. The Mega Drop Down Menu has a fancy hover effect and even the left menu got a new ribbon hover style. We have also added a special header position which fits perfectly the 3D block and can be used to present a large header image. The toolbar and logo will be shown nicely above the image. There is also an additional logo position in this template. Now you have the possibility to put a second smaller logo next to the Drop Down Menu. Feature list A variety of template color variations Built with the Warp5 template framework Multi-column dropdown menu Lots of modules with color variations, endless combinations with icons and badges possible 2-1-3 column ordering for search engine friendliness Compact size, using gzip and image sprites Works with all YOOtools

Today we are pretty excited to share some great news on ZOO 2.0. While the ZOO download statistics are still steeply rising (they surpassed 20.000 downloads) we finished the first minor update: ZOO 2.0.1! Besides several bugfixes we have a big surprise: All YOOtools are now converted to work with ZOO 2.0! We also developed a new Category Module that let's you easily create linked lists to ZOO categories. Read on to learn more about all the great features... Tools for ZOO In addition to our current YOOtools extensions we created a new series of tools which work with ZOO 2.0. The main difference between them is that for the old YOOtools you would have to create Joomla articles which were then loaded as content items. The new tools for ZOO 2.0 instead have layout positions and load content from ZOO! They are working the same way the ZOO item module does. Thus you don't have to create duplicated content anymore. The new tools load the content you've already created for the ZOO items. Isn't this awesome? Especially the image resizing and caching feature from ZOO 2.0 comes in handy when assigning the content to the module layouts. We converted following tools this way: YOOcarousel, YOOaccordion, YOOscroller, YOOslider and YOOdrawer. As a bonus we also converted the YOOmaps module which displays ZOO items on a single map now. You don't need to create any new markers, they are loaded directly from ZOO. If you need to display a map of all your points of interest or all companies in your business directory, the YOOmaps module will take care of that. All YOOtools are exclusively available for ZOO members who purchased the app bundle. Check out the demos of all tools for ZOO . New Category Module There is a new module in town. The category module will render a nicely styled, nested list of your categories. Try to use it in your blog. Your users will be able to easily navigate through your blog, without you having to build a custom menu. Take a look here to see the new category module. Google Maps Element We revisited the Google Maps element. In the 2.0.0 release you had to create some custom HTML for the marker popup. We felt that this is a little annoying. Wouldn't it be great if you can place existing content of your item in the marker popup? Thus the googlemaps element renders now by default the item name. But in addition you can also select a layout which should be rendered in the marker popup. This way you can assign any content to the layout positions and it will automatically show up in the marker popup without creating any new content or custom HTML. Isn't this great? Of course we added the layout rendering also the the new Maps module for ZOO. See it in action here . Further Updates and Changes With the new release, we also got rid of a few bugs and introduced some changes. Here is a not complete list of bugfixes and changes to the ZOO 2.0. fixed bug with Twitter Authenticate and SEF turned on fixed translation of country element fixed language files to include googlemaps element fixed minor css issue with category columns updated item module to version 2.0.1 updated search plugin to version 2.0.1 fixed categories teaser description in cookbook app country element is now searchable changes to the applications installer, now accepts different archive types fixed bug with rss feed item order fixed bug with comment cookie scope fixed minor CSS issue with comments in documentation app fixed filtering bug for relateditems element fixed bug with utf-8 encoding of the default.js file fixed bug with saving utf-8 encoded item-, category-, type slugs fixed bug with breadcrumbs (direct link to item) added some exceptions to the application installer fixed bug with alpha index Make sure to check out the new release , as it includes lots of goodies that will make your day.

Ta-ta-tada! We are pretty proud to present our new online t-shirt shop! Since our I♥YOO competition and ZOO presentation last year, people would ask us where to get those I♥YOO t-shirts. So due to popular demand we opened a brand new t-shirt shop where you can get them! We were a little creative in our spare time and created a bunch of new designs too. Check out all the cool designs here . For each t-shirt we will make a charitable donation... We are donating to WWF We sell all t-shirts at prime costs plus additionally 5€. For each t-shirt we donate the 5€ to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The WWFs goals are to to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. It is the largest environmental organization in the world with over 1300 conservation projects all around the globe. The main mission statements of the WWF are conserving the world's biological diversity, ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption. So when you buy one of our YOOtheme t-shirts you are one of the over 5 million supporters of the WWF to achieve these goals. We will collect all donations and after we have reached a certain amount we will keep you up to date about this project in our blog at yootheme.com, so come back and check for news. We use American Apparel Most printed t-shirts are produced in China in working environments with unhealthy conditions. So called Sweatshops. Sweatshop workers often work long hours for little pay. We picked American Apparel as t-shirt manufacturer. They are not outsourcing their labor. All t-shirts are made in downtown Los Angeles, California. American Apparel t-shirts are also very soft and smooth to touch and not heavy and bulky like many printed t-shirts. They are made from 100% cotton and are excellent for printing. Who prints and ships the t-shirts? We chose Spreadshirt as platform to produce, sell and ship the t-shirts. They offer great printing techniques to produce our design in high quality on t-shirts. After your order has been submitted and the payment has been processed, Spreadshirt produces the t-shirts and packs them for delivery, so you will get them very fast. They ship to nearly all countries in Europe, to the USA and to Japan. Spreadshirt also offers a fair return policy. If the product you receive should have any defect you can send it back to Spreadshirt and they will either refund your money, or exchange it with a shirt of the expected quality. So what are you waiting for? If you like one of our designs go to I♥YOO store and pick your favorite t-shirt! In case you missed our last blog post: Like last year we kicked off a I♥YOO competition to celebrate the ZOO 2.0 release. We give away 10 ZOO memberships for free! Get one here...
